Huge year classes seen on Lake Winnebago on key game species!
A big catch
2016 proved to be an outstanding year for hatch rates on Lake Winnebago. The fall trawling, or young of the year census was performed this fall with some very positive results.
The full report is linked here, but a quick review shows a strong walleye (7th largest all-time), perch and bait fish hatch. A massive hatch of crappies was seen, shattering an all-time record year class.
