Wolf River - Fremont 1 Year, 5 Months ago

The fish are starting to get active in this area. Presentation must be verrrrrrrry slow. Wolf river jigs working the best. Target depths between 5 and 10 feet of water. Most of the fish are males heading up the river. Not many females yet.

Mark D and I worked from Fremont down to Lake Poygan today. A ton of boats. Very few were catching eyes. We ended up with one sturgeon, One monster small mouth, a sucker and a sheepshead. The best walleye bite we observed was at the mouth of Lake Poygan and at the mouth of the Rat river. jigs and minnow was the only bait we saw catch walleyes today. Typical orange or yellow jig in about a 3/8 ozs. vertical jigging

The walleyes have started the journey up stream in the last couple of weeks. The action is still very limited, as the big run has not started yet. The ice is breaking down in this area, and should continue to break down with the warm weather and runoff water. Please add your observations and fish reports to this thread all spring.
